Will I have any long term problems as a result of my subdural hematoma?

I had been experiencing severe headaches and I finally went to the E.R.! They did a CT scan and found that I had a bleeding into the brain. I underwent emergency surgery. It was a 7mm m and I am left with a 2mm m. I am a 56 year old female in relatively good health. This emergency was due to a severe beating from my exfiance! He has hit me at least 150 times in the head over the last 6 wk. He is now in jail and charged with a 1st degree ault....great bodily harm! Since I've been home from the hospital, I've noticed that my short term memory is getting terrible. I also find that I get overwhelmed and confused very easily! Is this to be expected, and if so, will it be a permanent thing? It is really frustrating for me to be always forgetting things! Is there something that can be done to improve my memory, or will it get better on its own? My first followup visit with the neurosurgeon isn't until next week, and I would like to know something sooner than that.
