Why is there so much resistance and talk about the casualities in Iraq Afghanistan, when the?

casualities are at a very low level ? I mean it is not even 10.000 even if all the coalition casualities, Iraqi and Afghan military excluded, are taken into account. The allies lost lousands of soldiers to the Whermacht every day (admittably mostly Russians).
