Calling Essendon supporters! A question that has bugged me all my life!!?

Essendon football club got their nickname the bombers & the dons in 1922 when Essendon had to move from East Melbourne now known as jolimont railway yards where they played most of their games before having to move to Essendon recreation oval where they have played ever since. Essendon airport opened in the early 1920's where bomber planes would land "hence" this is where their nickname the bombers came from....
